Looking at adding a Motorguide X5-80 pound thrust, 50 inch shaft to my SS 201.

Is this enough trolling motor for this size boat?

20 feet in length.

3725 pounds wet weight, plus gear, 2 fishermen puts it over 4000 pounds.

24 inches bow to waterline.

Freshwater only.  Minimal current.  Not a big fan of fishing in the wind.

Input appreciated.

I have mounted a Motorguide XI5, 24 volt, 54 inch, wireless front deck and it works beautifully. Even in a 20 mile an hour wind. the anchor lock feature is invaluable and saves the need to get out the anchor in deep water and shallow water situations. the 54 inch fits well without getting back into the well of the sitting area. Also without impacting cushions and ladder. the 54 inch will only begin to lift to surface of water if two heavy guys get in the back without any counterbalance in front. if you do a lot of fishing in heavy seas you will want the 60 inch version.
