The right Prop

Hi, finally got my 202 deck boat out yesterday. It has a Yamaha 150 4 stroke engine and it seem to be running high rpm's. 5000rpm=20mph, 5500rpm=25mph and 6000 rpm=about 30mph. There was a lot of throttle left and it seemed that it would go to 7000rpm easy. Don't know if the tach is off or need higher pitch prop. What prop is normally on this boat ??

Thanks

you need to increase pitch. What prop and pitch are you turning. You should have about a 14.5 inch diameter and about a 17 in. pitch prop. You want about 5800 r p m's are full sped. Your engine may be ventilating a lot. What hole is the engine mounted in.
