What is the best anchor for a 2012 188 ob. The boat will be used in the intracoastal waterway. I'm interested in what will fit in the anchor storage and what is needed for the 188 boat length. I've heard a fluke #13 is best. Thank for answers

Most anchor manufacturers websites show a chart with the sizes offered and specs. One of those specs states what length range of boat the model is designed for. You would pick the size closest to your boat length without going "under" your boat length. With anchors, bigger is usually better (but not always necessary!) for holding power.
I have read that the Danforth/Fluke design anchors do not perform well if the seabed is NOT muddy or sandy.
Also, there isn't a performance difference between galvanized verses stainless steel. One is shinier/prettier than the other, so it's your choice in what "appearance" (or in my case, "cost") makes you happy.

I use a 13# Danforth style galvanized anchor with approx. 10ft of galvanized 3/8" chain between the anchor and rode. The chain increases the holding power by causing the anchor stock to run along the bottom and allows the flukes to dig in. Our bottom is muddy so it takes a few minutes to dunk the anchor to clean it off. Just make sure you use enough scope (anchor line length) for the depth and water conditions. Between 5:1 and 7:1 is general rule.

I use a 9# Danforth galvanized with 10 feet of chain on my SD 185OB (same boat + a windshield).

SD 2400 use a #12 sea claw it has instant bite and fits in anchor locker.

I am a captain running fishing charters and I have tried about every anchor available and the only anchor I've found that works in all situations, (and yes I use it a lot on the sandbars in salt) is the box anchor. I use a small box anchor on both my 22 foot pontoon and my deck boat and it out performs everything else I've tried. One of the best things about it is that if the tide shifts, it will flip and catch again in 1 foot.
