Neutral Indicator?

The Mrs. has difficulty finding neutral, even though it's always in the same place. So on our old Chrysler outboard I wired a big green LED to the neutral switch, just like on a motorcycle. But my Hurricane has a Yamaha LF115XA with computer control and the LED won't go off, just dims in gear. There is bleed to ground through the ECM. I know Yamaha offers a monitor system that includes gear position, but I just want a simple neutral indicator. Has anyone dealt with this?
