Wire in engine compartment

I found this bare wire in the engine compartment of my 2000 Yamaha 200hp. Any idea where it goes?

    According to the Marine Color Code for wiring, Green wires with a stripe (except yellow) could be for the motor tilt/trim.  A tilt/trim button should be located on the helm dash or throttle lever and a switch on the motor.  Check to see if both are operating OK.

    Both trim buttons work.The trim gauge is not working could it be for the gauge?
