Fuel guage

On my SD 231 the fuel gauge reads full until about 20 gallons have been used (holds 55 gallons).  The lowest I have let it get it held 28 gallons and still read 3/4 full. Is this normal for Hurricane boats?

    I have noticed that the fuel gauge on my FD196 shows FULL for quite some time, then drops fairly quickly to 1/2. The second half takes longer, but when it reads EMPTY I can still go for a long time (good insurance). Don't ask how I know. It was not intentional, but I ran 8 miles on plane with the gauge reading EMPTY and made it home!
